Are You Missing the Clues?
Prep better for interviews and networking by studying the clues
As you prep for interviews an networking discussions, are you missing the clues right in front of you?
Many skills from my MFA in Theatre are applicable in business, and one stands out above the rest: getting into the head of the other person.
When we are networking or interviewing, we often miss the many clues LinkedIn provides. I study LinkedIn profiles as I would a script. I look for signals of who this person is, what do they value, why do they use the words they do. Study the clues that LinkedIn provides. Really absorb what’s there.
What did they study in school?
Where do they volunteer?
What organizations or people do they follow?
What content made into their About section? What’s the tone of that section?
What do they like, share, and post? How often?
These are a few great places to start understanding who your interviewer really is by studying the clues right in front of you. This coach can help.
