Self-Care @ Work

While the concept of self-care was introduced in the 1950s and declared an official day in 2011, it’s only recently come out of the fringes of our minds.

We’re awake working–or doing something related to work–more hours in a day than we’re awake not working. So, if we care about self-care, we have to care about self-care at work.

Actions include:

Self-care: Fly-fishing between Zoom calls

  • Showing up at times in a sweaty ponytail after a workout during lunch

  • Taking some calls while walking outside

  • Building proper breaks in the day

  • Ordering healthful foods for meetings

  • Respecting timezone differences

  • Modeling behavior (no 11pm emails unless you’re working on another continent)

  • Honoring PTO–both for you and others

  • _____________________(insert your self-care tip here)

I predict aspects of self-care will start showing up in companies’ core values. What’s your self-care at work tip?

P.S. I didn’t catch anything.
