A Day in the Life

A Me-Suite follower challenged me to make my personal life more visible.

I champion the need to be career-oriented + life-minded, and this follower felt I wasn’t showing enough of Donna, the whole person. So here I share some random life-minded vignettes.

I garden with my dad’s heirloom seed collection. I am proudest of the green beans and lettuces I had this year. But I got the most laughs out of the cantaloupes—gorgeous on the outside—rotten, stinky, oozy mess on the inside. And if you hack the cantaloupe open with the long chef knife, the rotten, slimy mess splatters all over the kitchen and induces a gag reflex. Next year’s cantaloupes will come from the store.

I love lifting weights. I dead-lift 185 50 times each month. I go to the gym twice a week, turn off my brain and power through whatever Atlanta’s Top Trainer, Jason Rumpf, recommends for me that day. It’s the only thing I do truly just for me. It’s my time. It’s my therapy. It makes me feel invincible. I love everything about it except that stupid exercise where you take the medicine ball and pound it on the floor, bend down, pick it up over your head, pound it on the floor again. Lift. Repeat. Sometimes I think trainers think up exercises just to mess with us. “Hey, I bet we can get some fool to hold this bar while twisting side to side while standing on a balance board doing squats.”

Husband, Jonathan, is a master chef and amazing International Relations and data science mind. We have been together 33 years after I asked him out on a date in college. We have 3 cats, which is one cat below the CCPI: crazy cat person index.

We love to travel and have new experiences. We have traveled to 45 countries and counting through work and pleasure and have lived in 5 countries.

I like trying new things, and so far 2020 has included yoga for the first time (and likely my last time—that’s a blog for another day), and running my first race—a 10k. And of course, launching The Me-Suite!

Thank you for asking.

Do you have any ‘firsts’ planned for this year to share?
