Stay Fresh and Relevant For Your Future
If you’ve been thinking about going back to school, get serious about it. I’m that little voice on your shoulder saying, “Do it.” At least, at a minimum, launch an earnest investigation.
My father dropped out of college. I didn’t know that until I was 30. He hid it from me because he was afraid of signalling that school wasn’t important. He did go back and finish college in his 50s and continued on to a grad degree to launch a new career in his passion area, the environment, at 55. He used an employer reimbursement program to finish school.
My husband is perhaps one of the world’s oldest PhD students right now as I type. He’s gone back to school in his passion area, international relations, and has become a savvy Python coder. He discovered research grants to cover his tuition.
Several friends just finished, or are in pursuit of, their Masters and PhDs while juggling careers, relationships and families. Before you say...
It’s too late
It costs too much money
I don’t have time
What would I do with more schooling anyway
...do some research to make sure you aren’t creating self-limiting beliefs. What evidence do you have that it’s impossible to pursue your education goals?
A Me-Suite mindset requires we stay fresh and relevant for the future we want to have. If going back to school is your itch, take action to scratch it.
